	North Coast EV offers vehicle conversions that are economically feasible, reliable, and serve to reduce carbon emissions. Following a series of informative discussions, clients select the type of motor and battery system they would like installed to suit their driving requirements.

Electric Motors
	There are many electric motors available for vehicles, ranging from small and economical to powerful enough to compete with the largest gas engines. The most common motors used are AC induction and series wound DC motors. The motor and controller package featured below is a 50kW AC Induction motor package capable of regenerative breaking and electronic reverse.

Batteries

For choice of batteries lead acid or lithium iron phosphate technologies are offered. Lead acid batteries have been the primary technology utilized in electric vehicles for decades. They are relatively inexpensive but provide a limited driving range due to their power delivery inefficiencies and weight. While still relatively new technology, lithium batteries can offer the same amount of power and energy in about 25% the space and weight compared to lead acid. Additionally, lithium batteries have the potential to last for 5-7 years while lead acid batteries seldom last for more than 2-3 years. The battery featured below is a 100 amp-hour HiPower Lithium Iron Phosphate battery.

Battery Management System

To ensure a long life for your batteries it is important to use a Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS serves to protect the batteries from over-charge, over-discharge, and over-temperature. The BMS featured below also serves to provide a visual readout for amperage, pack voltage, cell-level voltages, state of charge, and pack temperatures. The BMS will also insure that your batteries stay within there recommended specifications at all times, even if you are not paying attention. This relieves the operator of the responsibility of always having to pay close attention to the energy system variables and parameters.
